It's the moment everybody (apart from perhaps Jennifer Aniston) has been waiting for - the moment the ultimate non-marrieds Brad and Angelina finally took the plunge. Yes, Brangelina are finally betrothed.

After having revealed a sparkling finger at a gallery in Los Angeles last week, the couple confirmed they were engaged on Friday 13, after seven years (and six children) together, with a ring that Pitt had been designing in collaboration with Robert Procop for over a year.

Having been a private jeweller to Jolie for over a decade, and released a collaborative collection with her named 'Style of Jolie' at the end of 2010 from which the proceeds go to Jolie's charitable foundation, the Education Partnership for Children of Conflict, the diamond and gemstone specialist was well-equipped to make her the perfect ring, but it was Pitt who brought all the design ideas.

With the ideal diamond sourced by Procop, Pitt then oversaw each and every creative step, from the elongated tablet shape in the centre, to the graduating sizes of the smaller faceted stones next to it, which he designed especially to suit his future wife's slim fingers.

No further details about the impending nuptials, which will be Jolie's third after her previous marriages to actors Jonny Lee Miller and Billy Bob Thornton, have been revealed. But with a bloody white men's shirt in her wedding dress archives, we can be sure the gown will be anything but predictable.
