Fashion news 2011: Meet Hollywood's superstar stylists
19 December 2011
Fashion news 2011 - Meet Hollywood's superstar stylists: Who makes Hilary hot, Cate cutting-edge, and Hailee the hippest teenager in town? Meet the women behind the red carpet looks of the world's most fashionable stars.

Gill (above) has worked her magic on actresses such as Kate Winslet, Hilary Swank, Jane Fonda and Abbie Cornish. Born in Britain, she studied at Kingston University and landed in Los Angeles in the early 1990s, having worked for Jean Paul Gaultier and Martin Margiela in Paris and styled shoots for magazines such as The Face and Arena.

Tanya-Gill-and-Hilary-Swank -superstar-stylists-2012
Gill, who is in her early forties, often works with designers to dress actresses in custom-made creations. It was she who put 73-year-old Jane Fonda in that daring Emilio Pucci number, with its strategically placed mesh panels, for the Cannes Film Festival last year. 'It covered just enough, but it still was beautiful and made her look so elegant and so youthful. She was glowing. '
Over the past decade Gill has seen red-carpet dressing go from something actresses approached with a heavy heart - even wearing an outfit from their own wardrobes - to a vital part of how they're marketed. 'They just want to look their best, and no one wants to get on the worst-dressed lists,' she says. 'You have to look a particular way if you want to be considered for certain roles. There has to be a standard in how you look. That's why [actresses] have been choosing to work with stylists, whereas 10 years ago they didn't do that so much.'
Star turn: Hilary Swank
For the 2011 Oscars, Tanya Gill dressed Hilary Swank in a sparkling, strapless silver Gucci Première gown with a skirt and train of ostrich feathers. 'Gucci had just launched Première [its couture line] in the USA, so it was a big moment. The creative director worked with me and their tailor for a couple of weeks beforehand,' says Gill. 'We just knew that dress was the one.' Gill pinned orchid-shaped diamond earrings by Anna Hu into Swank's hair. 'She felt so special. Everything just came together,' she says.ELIZABETH STEWART
Elizabeth Stewart took a winding route to red-carpet dressing, having first honed her skills as a fashion editor for Women's Wear Daily and W magazine, in both New York and Paris, and later at the New York Times Magazine. But since segueing into styling, she has dressed a stellar cast of actresses, including Cate Blanchett, Michelle Williams and Julia Roberts, as well as emerging stars such as Freida Pinto, Jessica Chastain and Jennifer Lawrence.
Cate-Blanchett-and-Jessica-Chastain-superstar-stylists-2012
Stewart, 47, says that her time in Paris in particular influenced her style; it was there that she would visit designers' couture ateliers, seeing close up how pieces were made. 'Understanding how much work goes into one red-carpet dress makes me really careful when choosing a dress for the Oscars,' says Stewart, who is known for creating looks of a chic simplicity. 'We often have a lot of choices and I know how lucky that is, and how much [work] is behind every choice we have to hand.'
Stewart sees her role as 'channelling into' an actress's style. 'It's very important to me to incorporate that,' she says. 'I just bring my taste to it. The best way to start is to meet [an actress] to try things on and learn what works on their body and what they like. Celebrity stylists exist less because actresses need to be made over and more because it's simply physically impossible between shooting and doing press interviews for an individual to get the 30 outfits she needs for any given press tour.'
A typical day for Stewart might be spent on a shoot, doing fittings or travelling with an actress, and she says that one of the highlights of her work is seeing emerging talent evolve into stars. 'With my younger clients it's incredible to be along for the ride from unknown to famous,' she says.
That said, she is quick to dismiss the notion of overnight success. 'I'm often working with [a new actress] for a year before they become known.'
Star turn: Cate Blanchett
Elizabeth Stewart's choice for Cate Blanchett at this year's Oscars - a pastel-pink couture dress by Riccardo Tisci, the creative director of Givenchy - won the actress a place at the top of the best-dressed lists. 'The pink Givenchy is one of my favourite Oscar moments, because I truly felt only Cate could wear that dress,' says Stewart.KEMAL & KARLA
Kemal Harris and Karla Welch have spent the past six years dressing a gaggle of young Hollywood actresses, among them Olivia Wilde and Zooey Deschanel. Yet it wasn't until this year that the pair became widely known, having put the 14-year-old Oscar nominee Hailee Steinfeld, the star of True Grit , in a series of beautiful yet youthful gowns for her awards-season debut.'We were very conscious that Steinfeld needed to look her age and be dressed appropriately,' says Welch, 37. She and Harris, who is 40, called in dresses from Prada, Marchesa and Prabal Gurung, an up-and-coming New York designer, and often tailored the designs to fit the actress's tiny frame.

Kemal-Harris-and-Karla-Welch-superstar-stylists-2012
Welch acknowledges that transforming an actress for the red carpet is 'very strategic… Most of the girls we work with realise they're a product. The people in the room at the events they attend are giving them their jobs… How they look will result in what kind of business they get.'
The day after Steinfeld appeared at the Golden Globes in a white Prabal Gurung halterneck gown, Prada contacted the stylists, offering its services. Soon afterwards the company named Steinfeld the face of Miu Miu, its younger line, for spring 2011.
For Harris and Welch, who have also styled actresses for the pages of The Sunday Telegraph's Stella magazine, working with a newcomer is a collaborative process. 'We'll talk about what they're promoting and what they would like their image to be,' says Welch, who is based in Los Angeles (Harris lives in New York). 'You learn their silhouette, what kind of shapes work best and how far one person can experiment. We envisage where we'd like to go with the person and then start calling in looks from designers.'
Gowns are usually altered by the pair's 'amazing' tailor. 'Some girls can slip on anything, but others can't,' says Welch. 'When people look amazing on the red carpet it's because the clothes fit well.'
Star turn: Hailee Steinfeld
'We saved Hailee's little princess moment for the Oscars,' says Karla Welch, of Kemal & Karla, referring to the pink tulle Marchesa confection Hailee Steinfeld wore to the awards ceremony. 'We discussed ideas and looked at pictures. It wasn't going to be edgy, just pretty and special,' says Welch. 'We worked with the Marchesa team up until the last moment.' For the Vanity Fair after-party, Steinfeld swapped her pink Salvatore Ferragamo heels for red Converse baseball boots. 'When you're 14 years old and you make it to the Oscars you can wear whatever you want on your feet,' says Welch.
JESSICA PASTER
Jessica Paster was one of the original crop of stylists to swoop on Hollywood and the awards ceremonies in the late 1990s. Her client list runs the gamut from Annette Bening and Kate Beckinsale to Dakota and Elle Fanning, Emily Blunt and Andrea Riseborough. For Paster, 35, it's important to make sure that she and the actresses have what she calls 'fashion chemistry' . 'You're spending so much time with them - you're doing fittings, you're in their lives quite a bit once they're promoting a movie,' she says. 'You have to see if your personalities mesh. And you have to see if your style meshes with theirs. I'm lucky [as] the girls I work with have a very good fashion eye and that's very helpful.'

Jessica-Paster-Andrea-Riseborough-superstar-stylists-2012
Paster is frank about the workaday aspects of the job. 'A typical day begins at seven o'clock in the morning and ends at nine at night,' she says. 'If you think it's about lunches and having a good time… no. We're pulling clothes and pulling clothes,'
she says, referring to all the appointments stylists make with designers and public-relations firms before settling on the star gown.
It is, she says, a 'big, huge business' and one of its more tiresome sides is the way designers' PRs try to dictate who can and can't wear what. 'Nowadays a publicity company's favourite word is no,' says Paster. 'Back [in 1998] I remember calling directory inquiries and getting Alexander McQueen's number, and Mr McQueen himself sent me a dress for an unknown actress.' The then unknown actress was Minnie Driver, who went on to wear McQueen's shimmering, corseted mermaid gown for Givenchy to the Golden Globes.
Despite the politics, Paster continues to conjure up dazzling dresses for clients. She has recently dressed Emily Blunt in Elie Saab haute couture and Dakota Fanning in a Valentino tulle ball-gown sprinkled with dozens of flower appliqués. 'I've been doing this for 16 years, so I must love it to deal with all the craziness that goes on,' she says.
Star turn: Andrea Riseborough (above)
'This was her big red-carpet moment and I wanted it to be very special,' says Jessica Paster of the John Galliano for Christian Dior haute couture gown Andrea Riseborough wore to the première of W.E. in Venice. 'I'm such a fan of John Galliano. And with that dress he did such a beautiful, beautiful job.'(telegraph fashion news.)
Oscar de la Renta Pre-Fall 2012 Luxury Fashion Collection
19 December 2011
Oscar de la Renta Pre-Fall 2012 Luxury Fashion Collection, Latest Luxury fashion Trends 2012: Oscar de la Renta is known for his luxurious and elegant pieces. His every collection is all about it, you will hardly find any sporty or casual style items. Pre-Fall 2012 range is not an exception. There is a number of designers I will admire forever: Karl Lagerfeld, Alberta Ferretti, Zuhair Murad, John Galliano, Donna Karan and of course Oscar de la Renta. These people are real masters in what they do. Every collection, every piece, every detail they create is unique and perfect. Fashion news 2011: Adriana Lima’s Racist Campaign For Donna Karan
19 December 2011
Fashion news 2011 - Adriana Lima’s Racist Campaign For Donna Karan: Donna Karan is the designer who prefers to arouse interest in people with her designs rather than controversial ad campaigns. However, her latest campaign with Adriana Lima has created a stir and was even called racist. More details below!

There are lots of issues in our world that cause controversies, and plenty of those relate to the fashion industry. Using a younger model to promote women’s clothing, wearing fur, or even smoking a cigarette are all considered to be potentially risky. Donna Karan’s Spring 2012 campaign with Adriana Lima seemed to me pretty normal. But some people noticed something racist in it. Ridiculous!

Adriana Lima looks gorgeous and fierce on images for Donna Karan Spring 2012 ad campaign which was inspired by the designer’s charitable trip to Haiti right after the earthquake that shook the island last year. The controversy arises from one of the three photos where the model poses with two kids on the left. Kids are said to be local Haitians, so their skin is naturally dark. Lima, being Brazilian, has lighter skin. And according to some people the contrast in skin color has clear racist undertones.

10 December 2011
Fashion news 2011- Pantone name Tangerine Tango the colour of 2012: Colour specialists Pantone have named the vibrant shade of 'Tangerine Tango' the colour to watch out for next year.

Described as a "spirited reddish orange", Tangerine Tango is decpited as: "reminiscent of the radiant shadings of a sunset, marrying the vivaciousness and adrenaline rush of red with the friendliness and warmth of yellow, to form a high-visibility, magnetic hue that emanates heat and energy".
Following on from 2011's pinky-orange 'Honeysuckle' hue, next year's vibrant shade already appeared on catwalks in the spring/summer 2012 collection, popping up in designs at the Acne, Alexander McQueen, Oscar de la Renta and Céline shows, to name but a few. As a complimentary colour to blue, the burnt orange shade will go perfectly with the bright jewel tones that have proved popular this season.

Burberry Prorsum Pre-Fall Fashion 2012: warm colors, chic fabrics and flawless tailoring.
10 December 2011
Burberry Prorsum Pre-Fall Fashion 2012: warm colors, chic fabrics and flawless tailoring: Burberry Prorsum Pre-Fall 2012 collection is one of those which we would call austere rather than opulent. It features straight beautiful silhouettes, warm colors, chic fabrics and flawless tailoring. Dresses are longer and more demure but they are still very nice and attractive.

Burberry Prorsum Pre-Fall 2012 collection is very elegant and stylish. It features lots of signature trench coats made of warm high quality fabrics, floor-length sophisticated dresses in deep beautiful colors, tweed pencil skirts, chic classic jackets coming along with bow belts in contracting hues and flared trousers. Besides, the range includes leather and knitted gloves, laced ankle boots and a variety of bags ranging from roomy totes to small evening clutches.
The collection has the Burberry traditional feel but new elements are also present. Instead of mini dresses that came in plenty in Fall/ Winter 2011/ 2012 collection the Pre-Fall 2012 range comprises longer and more demure styles which often come with long sleeves and hemlines which literally lie on the floor. The same thing is about trousers. They come extremely long in the new collection.
The color palette of Burberry Prorsum Pre-Fall 2012 is very warm and luxurious. No bright or cold hues are used which is a drastic change after the collection of the last year when purples, greens and blues abounded.

Fashion news 2011: Cheryl Cole adds 12 pairs of self-designed shoes to her collection of 2,000
07 December 2011
Fashion news 2011 - Cheryl Cole adds 12 pairs of self-designed shoes to her collection of 2,000: The Girls Aloud singer and former X Factor judge has collaborated with Stylist Pick to create her first range of beloved accessories - shoes.

We've been teasing you with behind-the-scenes videos of Ms Cole working on her foray into the world of fashion design over the past couple of months, but the fruits of her labour are finally here.
Launched today on Stylistpick.com, are 12 styles conceived (and presumably named) by Cheryl, including 'Your Royal Hotness', an ankle-strap court shoe with a studded heel that she describes as her "signature shoe", to flat biker boots named Byker Groove (a nod to her North East roots) which she'll wear "when my feet need a rest from heels."
If a girl can never have too many shoes - Cole admits to owning in the region of 2,000 pairs - what's a few more that you've designed yourself to add to the mix?
"I hoard them all over the house - in cupboards in the kitchen, in the bathroom, in every room" she reveals in an interview with Grazia. Her favourite are a lace pair of Christian Louboutin's which she wore to the Cannes Film Festival.
"For me, shoes all have memories, - wearing them on a certain occasion like that means the shoe gets that memory."
Fashion news 2011: Alber Elbaz launches his Christmas tree at Claridge's
07 December 2011
Fashion news 2011 - Alber Elbaz launches his Christmas tree at Claridge's: The Lanvin designer launches the ritzy tree he designed for the London hotel with a cocktail party. Back in the day, the Christmas tree used to be just a Christmas tree i.e. a bit of background colour in the living room. Now it's swanning around Claridge's playing host to Emilia Fox, Sir Paul Smith, Gordon Ramsey et al at a posh party, and looking better dressed than Alexa Chung , thanks to a spanking new outfit (OK, baubles) designed by Alber Elbaz.

The Lanvin designer was in town last night to launch the baubles-laden tree he created for the hotel, which comes topped with its own mini Alber fairy, and mannequins in the guise of hotel guests and maids.

"It was a happy moment for me to see it. The idea [was based on] the staff of Claridge's - the maid, the concierge - having a drink with the guests," Elbaz told The Telegraph , waving his hand over his beast of a tree (it stands at four metres high), an extravaganza which dwarfs his own at home. "I've just got a small tree with lots of ribbons."
And soon to be decorated with perhaps lots of what Philip Treacy gave him? The milliner turned up with a mysterious box wrapped in what looked like about 50 layers of brown tape. "It's naughty," he Freudian slipped, before correcting himself. "I mean, Forties Christmas things." Then he said it wasn't sushi, and completely lost this audience: answers on email, please.
Fashion news 2011: H&M confess to using computer generated models
07 December 2011
Fashion news 2011 - H&M confess to using computer generated models: Swedish retailer H&M decides that even lingerie models aren't perfect enough for their website. In the post 'Supermodel' age, models often get accused of all looking alike. Well, if you're looking at H&M's website, it turns out that's a reasonable allegation, because the Swedish retailer has confessed to using computer generated lingerie models who are "completely virtual" on their website.

In news that will depress women the world over, apparently even lingerie models' bodies aren't perfect enough these days, so H&M "designs a body that can better display clothes made for humans than humans can, then 'dresses' it by drawing on its clothes, and digitally pastes on the heads of real women in post-production", Jezebel report.
Seems like a lot of hassle in theory, but when you add up the expense of booking a model, hair and make-up artists, a photographer (and photographer's assistants), a studio, lights, catering, a stylist and retouching services, suddenly H&M's business model seems to make sense.
A spokesperson from H&M told German website Aftonbladet (who first noticed the cyborg nature of the lingerie models), that their aim was to ensure that the focus was on the merchandise, not the model: "The result is strange to look at, but the message is clear: buy our clothes, not our models".
However, H&M have come under fire from Scandinavian advertising watchdogs, with the Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation criticising them for "creating unrealistic physical ideals".
"This illustrates very well the sky-high aesthetic demands placed on the female body," said spokesman Helle Vaagland. "The demands are so great that H&M, among the poor photo models, cannot find someone with both body and face that can sell their bikinis."
With the copious amounts of Photoshopping that goes on with many fashion shoots these days, who knows, maybe we'll soon get to the point where models become dispensable altogether...

Fashion news 2011: Lottie Moss - New Face In Modeling Industry
22 November 2011
Fashion news 2011 - Lottie Moss - New Face In Modeling Industry: For some people it’s really easy to get noticed. Lottie Moss had to simply attend her half-sister’s wedding and Storm Model Management agent spotted her. The girl, who is now 13 years old, is pretty and interesting and will probably become very popular soon. She has had a ‘test shoot’ already (which looks great to me!) and one of Kate Moss’ favorite photographers – Mario Testino – has lined-up for her next photo shoot.

Lottie (Charlotte) did her first shoot last month with a photographer Andrea Carter-Bowman who was said to be good at making young models feel comfortable behind the lens. The girl looks beautiful on the pictures. She isn’t professional about posing yet but she does have that expressiveness we all like in some models.

Lottie Moss’ father says it’s too early to plan anything about his daughter’s career but he also believes modeling can be a great start for her. He commented:
It’s early days really. Storm, Kate’s agent, felt that it was worth giving Lottie a test shoot and seeing how she turned out. She had a lovely time and she seemed to come out quite well – so everybody’s happy so far. It will be very strictly controlled because she’s not 14 yet so it’s very early days. It will all be left to Sarah and Simon at Storm to decide what the best way ahead is. So we’re going to have a chat with them later in the year, possibly before Christmas, just to decide how to go forward.”
He also mentioned Lottie had an exciting day doing modeling:
It was a nice experience [for Lottie] to have a good photographer and the life of a photographic model, a day in the life as it were, but an exciting day for her.”

Talking about the opportunity his Lottie can have with the career like this he said:
Well, you have to take advantage of any opportunities that come along haven’t you? If things work out for Lottie and she eventually gets some work it could help her in her future. It’s getting harder and harder to get jobs, university and things like that – so if she can get a couple of jobs early on and get something behind her maybe it makes life easier.”
Fashion insiders have already discussed the probable future of the girl. Carole White, the founder of Premier Models who launched Naomi Campbell’s career, commented about Lottie:
Lottie looks beautiful and fresh – a very English rose look. Generally you need the height. Kate is an exception to the rule because models need to be 5ft9in to 5ft 11in. I think Lottie would make a lovely young model.”
Fashion expert Karen Kay said:
She’s even got a Cindy Crawford-style mole on her chin. She’s the full package. If she plays her cards right, she could eclipse Kate.”
Fashion news 2011: Stella McCartney to show at London Fashion Week for the first time
22 November 2011
Fashion news 2011 - Stella McCartney to show at London Fashion Week for the first time: Leading British fashion designer, Stella McCartney, will show a "one off" collection at London Fashion Week in February 2012.
For the past decade Sir Paul McCartney's diary has included two immovable foreign engagements - the biannual fashion shows presented by his daughter Stella in Paris.

Stella-McCartney-Spring-Summer-2012-Paris-Fashion-Week
Next February, however, he needn't travel nearly so far. Because for the first time ever, Stella McCartney is to show the latest collection from her eponymous label at London Fashion Week.
The Saturday night "special fashion presentation" on February 18 next year will, her office emphasised, be to showcase a "one-off" Stella McCartney collection. It will be the focal point of a London-based marketing Stella-thon next February that will see a "World of Stella" exhibition of Selfridges, a new fragrance launch, and the opening of a new Stella McCartney store, her second in London.
Although this mysterious "one-off" collection won't be Olympic-themed, the company will be hoping to capitalise on London 2012 fever thanks to the designer's commission by Adidas to be "creative director" of Team GB's kit.
Meanwhile, the British Fashion Council will doubtless also be hoping that this London debut of a full Stella McCartney collection will prove enough of a roaring success to convince the just-turned 40 year-old mother of four to bid adieu to Paris for good, and return to the city of her birth.
Certainly, the signs are that British fashion houses no longer need to show in the traditional, foreign commercial powerhouse capitals to achieve financial success: since 2009, when Burberry moved its women's show from Milan back to London, its results have been stellar.
Stella though, remains to be convinced - as does her 50 per cent partner in the business, French luxury conglomerate PPR who also own Gucci and Alexander McQueen - for just a fortnight after her London show, she will present her autumn/winter collection - as per usual - in the gold-leafed splendour of Paris' Palais Garnier. So Sir Paul can't chuck his Eurostar Frequent Traveller card away quite yet.

Fashion news 2011: Pippa Middleton's Alexander McQueen bridesmaid dress goes on sale
22 November 2011
Fashion news 2011 - Pippa Middleton's Alexander McQueen bridesmaid dress goes on sale: A dress almost identical to Pippa Middleton's royal wedding bridesmaid dress has been released online at Net-a-porter today.

Pippa-Middleton-bridesmaid-dress-Alexander-McQueen
The cowl-neck dress, designed by Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen, has only minor differences to the original gown, with a covered zip at the back in place of Pippa's fabric buttons and an alternative finish to the sleeve and neck seams.

Cameron-Diaz-Dress-Alexander-McQueen-2011
Adored by the public and press alike, the simplistic design quickly thrust Pippa into the limelight, making her the surprise fashion hit of the royal wedding day and garnering attention for her elegance and shapely figure. But it isn't the only time Sarah Burton has used the classic design. Actress Cameron Diaz wore a red satin version from the pre-fall 2009 collection for the 2010 Golden Globes and the popular shape continues to sell quickly this season, with navy and red knee-length versions currently out of stock on Net-a-porter as well.
Unsurprisingly, those keen to get their hands on the pure silk gown will have to move quickly as the smallest size has already sold out. But the price tag might be a consolation - although not a snip at £1,995 - it is considerably less than the £20,000 the Middletons are rumoured to have paid for the original.

Fashion news 2011: Spice Girl Emma Bunton To Design Childrenswear
16 November 2011
Fashion news 2011 - Spice Girl Emma Bunton To Design Childrenswear: Victoria Beckham’s success in fashion industry is very inspiring, especially for her former colleagues in Spice Girls. As you might already know Geri Halliwell designed a lingerie collection for Next. And now Emma Bunton speaks out about her future childrenswear line.

Emma Burton has teamed up with Argos to create a 99-piece childrenswear line that will hit store in January 2012.
Emma Bunton commented on the new deal:
As a mum myself I’m forever searching for fun and fashionable clothes for my boys, that are comfortable and practical too – clothes they really want to wear. Working with Argos has given me the opportunity to create exactly that. I’ve worked hard on every piece in the range; the designs, colors, fabrics, prints and cuts and I’m so proud of the outcome.”
Emma Bunton’s four-year-old son Beau will model part of the collection just like his mother once did when she was a child.
Emma shares on her experience:
As a child I modelled for Argos and featured in the catalogue several times. It’s great to make a return appearance, this time with my own range – it’s something I’ve always wanted to do.”
Fahion news 2011: Marc Jacobs’ Perfume Campaign With Dakota Fanning Banned
16 November 2011
Fahion news 2011 - Marc Jacobs’ Perfume Campaign With Dakota Fanning Banned: Marc Jacobs’ perfume campaign has finally been banned. Even at the time it was first released I believed this would happen. The designer’s idea of ‘contemporary Lolita’ was initially doomed to failure. Yes, Dakota Fanning, who at 17 years old looks like she is 15, is probably the perfect Nabokov’s Lolita (Vladimir Nabokov’s 12-year-old character in the controversial novel Lolita) and her role in The Runaways just adds highlight to it but in our society when children are oversexualized this is totally unacceptable.
Commenting on Oh Lola fragrance campaign Marc Jacobs said referring to the film:
Dakota was in it, and I knew she could be this contemporary Lolita, seductive yet sweet.”

However, and thanks God, some people didn’t take it and applied to the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) which banned the campaign featuring Dakota Fanning. They explained the decision:
We considered that the length of her dress, her leg and position of the perfume bottle drew attention to her sexuality. Because of that, along with her appearance, we considered the ad could be seen to sexualize a child. We therefore concluded that the ad was irresponsible and was likely to cause serious offence.”
What do you think about Marc Jacobs’ Oh Lola perfume campaign with Dakota Fanning? Do you agree that it has to be banned?
Fashion news 2011: Nicole Richie Named Style Influencer Of The Year
16 November 2011
Fashion news 2011 - Nicole Richie Named Style Influencer Of The Year: Nicole Richie was praised for her fashion sense many times but she has never received a formal accolade for being stylish. Now she can finally boast she has. At the Accessories Council's ACE Awards the socialite and designer was named Style Influencer Of The Year.

Nicole-Richie-Named-Style-Influencer-Of-The-Year.
She wasn’t the most stylish celebrity in the past. But Nicole Richie was able to grow in terms of fashion. And now, being 30 and a mother of two, she can be proud of what she’s achieved. People do recognize her as a style icon and often get inspired from her looks. But the more important thing is that fashion elite has also recognized Nicole’s contribution into industry. Yesterday, at the Accessories Council’s ACE Awards in New York City she was named Style Influencer of the Year. And she received her accolade in style – she wore a gorgeous black cleavage-baring column dress to the event.
Fashion Style Trends of Katie Holmes 2011
11 November 2011
Fashion Style Trends of Katie Holmes 2011: Sometimes Katie Holmes looks a million dollars, sometimes she doesn't. I like that about her. It makes me feel warm towards her when she gets it right. (What can I say? I'm employed to have an emotional response when someone puts on a pair of trousers.)

Katie Holmes at the Lanvin fashion show at Carondelet House in Los Angeles 2011
So the 32-year-old actress got a mental high-five from me (she'll be thrilled) for this outfit last Friday. Ok, it was a Los Angeles Lanvin event and she is wearing a Lanvin ensemble that may or may not have been shipped straight to her bedside from the atelier - but that's the way Lady Fashion rolls these days.
Anyway, as the phrase goes, she wears it well. The wide-legged, cream silk trousers (autumn/winter 11 pre-collection) and the dark gold metallic t-shirt (spring/summer 2012 Resort) feel just festive enough for a cocktails and canapés kind of evening. Remember this when you're shopping for a 'party look' later this month and feeling pressure to head to the short, sequinned dress section.
Aside from that I am just besotted by Holmes' Heidi hair. Long hair could have felt a little heavy, but the plaits and a clean face bestow a sporty, lightness that might have you think she'd spent the afternoon doing gymnastics... Wait. I've just gone too far, haven't I?

Fashion news 2011: Olsen twins named Vogue's best dressed
11 November 2011
Fashion news 2011 - Olsen twins named Vogue's best dressed: Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen are awarded the top spot on US Vogue's best dressed list.

Their style might be a little Bohemian for a wider American audience, but the Olsen twins have been named top of Vogue 's best dressed list (published in the US next Tuesday.)

The list highlights the world's most stylish siblings, with Kate and Pippa Middleton at number 9, Elle and Dakota Fanning at number 2, and Beyoncé and Solange Knowles at number 7.
The twins launched their own high-end, luxury clothing label, The Row in 2006 - a basic T-shirt sells for £195 on Net-a-Porter.

"I did feel there was a need for luxurious basics, to wear with couture," Ashley told The Telegraph earlier this year. "When you're small like I am, you need things to break it up, or not look like you're in the full look. So it started with that concept, and just kind of grew from there. It's pieces that we feel are missing, or that we want. We make the best quality, things that we would shop for, that we appreciate and find beautiful."
Vogue 's Fashion News Director Mark Holgate told Reuters that choosing the Olsens was "kind of a no brainer."
"They get it right a lot of the time and then sometimes they don't get it right," he said. "That's actually great because it shows that it's their hands reaching into their wardrobes. They don't have someone telling them, 'This is cool, this is hot, this is what you should be wearing.' It comes from within them. It's instinctual... They are legitimate fashion forces."

Fashion news 2011: Jerry Hall and Georgia May Jagger strike a pose for H&M
11 November 2011
Fashion news 2011 - Jerry Hall and Georgia May Jagger strike a pose for H&M: Mother and daughter models Jerry Hall and Georgia May Jagger have joined forces to star in Swedish retailer H&M's Christmas campaign.

The shoot marks only the second time the pair have posed together professionally, the first being for Australian cosmetics brand 'Invisible Zinc' when it launched in the UK in 2010.
Jerry's signature side-swept mane of blonde hair is accessorised with a slick of scarlettt lipstick and a blouse and trousers combo, while Georgia May's iconic gap-toothed pout is teamed with a monochrome Christmas jumper and black leggings.
Shot in New York by top fashion photographers Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin, the campaign theme is 'togetherness' and focuses on a range of well-known personalities and their loved ones.
Other stars of the campaign include model Karen Elson and her sister Kate, Bryan Ferry and his son Tara, and Swedish singer songwriter Lykke Li and her sister.
Jerry and Georgia's campaign hits billboards, magazines and television on November 17.
Fashion news 2011: Harper’s Bazaar Named Sarah Burton 2011 Designer Of The Year
08 November 2011
Fashion news 2011: Harper’s Bazaar Named Sarah Burton 2011 Designer Of The Year: After she designed Duchess of Cambridge’s wedding dress the entire world have come to know her. She is no longer the right hand of a genius designer, she is that designer. And Harper’s Bazaar has been first to establish that. The fashion magazine named Alexander McQueen’s Sarah Burton designer of the Year.

It was not easy for Sarah Burton to take after Alexander McQueen in the brand founded by the genius deceased designer but she was able to cope and went even further. She designed the wedding dress for Duchess of Cambridge, the dress that was named one of the most beautiful wedding dresses of all ever created. So, the title that Harper’s Bazaar gave to Burton yesterday – Designer of the Year – was well-deserved.
Sarah Burton received the accolade at the Harper’s Bazaar’s Women of the Year Awards that was held at Claridge’s Hotel in London last night. She wasn’t the only one to be honored at the event. Designer Tom Ford was presented with Man in a Woman’s World award. Actress Helena Bonham-Carter took the Role Model of the Year prize. Models Naomi Campbell, Helena Christensen, Eva Herzigova, Yasmin Le Bon and Cindy Crawford all were named Fashion Icons of the Year.
